- Montserrat's rack railway is usually the easier mobility choice over the mixed vintage-rail-and-walking route — a guided coach excursion bundles transport and entry cleanly for a first visit.
- Girona pairs naturally with Costa Brava if you're driving, but by train alone it's still a strong standalone day — medieval lanes, cathedral steps and the River Onyar are all an easy walk from the station.
- Costa Brava access varies by cove — the closest towns are reachable by coastal bus from Girona, but the more scenic scattered coves really do need a car. Treat it as optional rather than a fixed stop.
